Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2025
Your privacy matters to us. This policy describes what data Clouteye collects, why we collect it, and how you can control it. Please read it carefully.
1. Who we are
Clouteye ("we", "our", "us") is a real-time social listening platform built for African brands and creators. We are headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use our website and platform at clouteye.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly — such as your name, email address, and payment details when you register or subscribe. We also automatically collect usage data including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and actions taken within the platform. If you connect social accounts for tracking purposes, we collect only the public data associated with those accounts via authorised APIs.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to provide and improve the Clouteye platform, process payments, send you service-related communications (e.g. invoices, alerts), respond to support requests, and analyse usage patterns to improve performance. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We may also use analytics cookies (such as those from Vercel Analytics or similar tools) to understand how the platform is used. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features may not function correctly.
5. Data sharing
We share your data only with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate the platform — including cloud infrastructure providers, payment processors (e.g. Paystack, Flutterwave), and email delivery services. These providers are contractually obligated to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify.
6. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it (e.g. for tax or financial records).
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. You may also request that we restrict or stop processing your data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@clouteye.com. We will respond within 14 business days.
8. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure password hashing, and access controls to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
Clouteye is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you by email if the changes are material.
11. Contact
